Transmission Channels  Characteristics of transmission channels. Cables: power attenuation and frequency response. Optical Fibers. Characterization of a radio channel in free space.

Analog Modulation  Analog modulation. Linear modulation: DSB, SSB, VSB. Frequency division multiplexing and radio frequency allocation. Elementary analysis of amplitude and frequency modulation.

Quantization  Analog to digital conversion. Uniform quantization and evaluation of the performance of a uniform quantizer. Time division multiplexing.

Digital modulation  Digital communication. Baseband modulation: PAM. Passband modulation: PSK, M-QAM.
